streamworks.ca provides sound design, sound effects, animation and mastering work on a DVD and audio CDs and which accompany seven published projects to date with David Bouchard.One of British Columbia's best-selling authors, David's books have won several prestigious awards and accolades. An Aboriginal Carol was Canadian Aboriginal Book of the Year and is on the White Ravens'' Outstanding New International Books for Children and Young Adults list, 2008. Nokum Is My Teacher was Anskohk Aboriginal Literature Festival Winner, Childrens book of the year 2007 and Moonbeam Childrens book awards 2007 bronze medalist. David has authored many other books over his prolific career. The summer of 2009 saw David bringing three more projects to streamworks.ca for audio and video versions to accompany the printed books. | June 5th, 09 - I met with David and the rest of the people working on this project in Victoria, BC. Lots of smiles over a huge breakfast at the Blue Fox cafe. We head to David's home in Oak Bay to record. The home was built in 1905 of granite blocks and has loads of wood inside. Not a creak or moan in the floorboards, its solid.
Joseph lights a pile of sage and grasses and smudged our recording area. Then a pipe full of ceremonial tobacco is lit and passed around clockwise. I partake. What a beginning. As I now reflect I feel a sense of inclusion in something very special; cont.>>

I have already used the words "career highlight" to describe this project. I know it is for those of us involved in the production of David Bouchard's upcoming release "Seven Sacred Teachings Of White Buffalo Calf Woman." The release will be a book with a DVD, which will include a watch-able presentation as read by David.
This will be our sixth sound design and this time visual project with David. The words were recorded. Watch this page for updates along the way. Geoff |

June 22nd, 09 - Hours and hours pass as the sounds are being arranged with the reading. I become one with the noises of the project, layer upon layer. I am struck by the beautiful sound made by the flutes that Swampfox built for the project; almost haunting. These instruments bring a magic to this story. Swampfox recorded in a studio in Geogia few weeks back. A Stó:lō dear skin drum was played in a quiet wooded clearing on a crisp winters day, two winters back at Chilliwack Lake. It makes for a nice compliment to the pallette for this project. cont>>. |
I want to leave lots of time for the visuals. Kristi Cameron's paintings are amazing; colors magnificent. I am looking forward to artfully arranging them along with the text for presentation at 1080x1920 can't wait to see them on studios Aquos. Geoff |

| September 22nd, 09 - It's been several weeks since the completion of this project. Phew, that was intense; but in a good way. Keeping an up to date project journal slipped in priority as the project neared deadline I'm afraid. But meet the deadline we did and the project has been officially released.
